A low-effort way to declutter while you get dressed
The tiny tweak that makes letting go easier
We’re deep into our move right now (currently at 30,000 feet on our way to Oregon, in fact!), so I’m keeping these next few newsletters short and sweet. I hope you’re stepping away from your inbox and soaking up this last stretch of summer, too!
Today I’ve got a tiny tweak that will make closet decluttering easier.
Create a designated spot in your closet for clothing donations.
It could be:
A trash bag or reusable grocery bag hanging on the back of the door
An extra hamper, basket, or cardboard box tucked in the corner
An empty drawer you don’t use
An under-bed storage bin (if closet space is tight)
It sounds basic, but having a “donation station” right where you keep your clothes makes it easy to declutter in the moment. If something is worn or doesn’t fit quite right—toss it in! No big closet cleanouts required.
Happy decluttering!

Amazing! I do the same with the kids clothes. I always have a cotton shopping bag in their room and toss all things in there that are too small or can be donated. Once it’s full I go through it and donate what is too small for both of them or put away what will fit the little brother soon. That way it never piles up and we have no fights over too tight clothes that were favs once 🤣
So true. Having an easy spot for donations turns decluttering into a habit, not a huge event, and that huge event is what holds most of us back from taking action.
